Please see ordering information to learn how to order and help create your very own custom apron. I am a stay-at-home mother of two, so I'm not always able to complete every request, but if you have a cool new idea, let me know! All the aprons pictured on this page are a size "medium," but due to the flexibility of a tie-around apron, they fit women from a size 4 to a 16 quite comfortably. They are made of 100% cotton and are machine washable unless otherwise noted. (If you would like a larger size, just let me know! Men's aprons are a universal size and made of twill or canvas--machine wash warm, line dry), and children's aprons are generally a size 5 and fit most kids between ages 2 and 8.) These are all handmade for my own amusement.
Below are samples of what I like to do. I have removed some photos, so not all my creations are shown here. I custom design people's wishes, so let me know what you like and I'll mock up a sketch for you if it is within my power to do so! No two aprons I make are identical because they are each hand-made individually.
Princess Zelda: After many requests, I have finally completed a Link and Zelda set. Zelda consists of 4 different fabrics, but is still machine washable. There is a hidden pocket behind the decorative element on her skirt for hiding away rupees. I probably won't make another one just like this because I used fabric I had lying around and it would be hard to match.
Link: Link is of course here to go with Zelda. To set this apron apart from Robin Hood or Peter Pan, he has a tri-force on his pouch. The straps and functional pouch are made from suede. The belt has the illusion of functionality but actually is appliqued. This one was made using actual suede so it was kind of expensive to make.
The Tiger: This apron has pockets with claws, so that when you put your hands in them it appears that you have claws. I love this about it because it is humorous all while keeping the apron functional. This one is made out of canvas and twill. Check out these pictures to see what it looks like on a real person. (ahem...me. I appliqued everything on this...so yeah...time consuming.
Queen Bee: This apron is pieced together black and yellow cotton with a purple sash and straps. There is a crown applique on the shoulder and camouflaged pockets on the skirt.
The Peachy Princess Apron: The Peachy Princess is all cotton except for the metallic gold piece. There are pockets on the overskirt to add functionality to this very princess-y apron. I'm so glad to have her in my collection. I've been thinking about her for a long time!
The Plumber Apron: This apron was designed to accompany The Peachy Princess. The Plumber is made out of twill or canvas with two big cartoonish yellow buttons on the bib! The pockets on the front are shaped to mimic pockets found on denim jeans.

Evil Plumber Apron: I also did a version of this for one of The Plumber's nemesis's.
Pretty as a Daisy Apron: It didn't feel right to have a Peachy Princess on here without a Pretty as a Daisy Apron! My favorite part of this apron is the double ruffle on the bottom. I think this is the most adorable apron on here.
The Green Plumber: The Green Plumber is finally here. He is the same design as The Plumber and The Evil Plumber. I'm very happy to finally have the core four Mario characters on here! (For me the core is The Plumber, The Green Plumber, Peachy Princess, and Pretty as a Daisy)
The Phoenix: The Phoenix is unique because I made her sash tie on the hip (instead of the back like on most aprons). I love the way the colors go together on this apron. The gold is a "dull satin," so it has sheen to it and is machine washable warm, delicate cycle (according to the instructions provided by Hancock Fabrics).

The Lady Sailor: The Lady Sailor apron features a sailor-like collar that extends into straps and a large cartoonish red bow on the chest.
The Atomic Apron: The apron in this picture is the only like it in existence. I really enjoyed making it, especially since it was a gift for someone who really really appreciated it.
The Candy Striper: A custom apron made out of oil cloth. I'd prefer not to work with oil cloth again, but I like the design. There are pockets on the skirt even though they are hard to see!
Lady NightBird: Featuring a carved out neckline, pockets lined in blue, blue straps in the back, and the back of the bib lined in blue, Lady NightBird can move about freely in the dark without being spotted :-)
Black Kitty: This apron is made out of patent leather vinyl and has a functional zipper on the bib plus fur trim on the top and bottom. This was by far the most difficult one I've made because the fabric is hard to work with and very unforgiving and putting in zippers is a pain. More pictures can be seen here.
This is just a fun apron I made. I did not pick out the fabric. The fabric was bought and shipped to me with the instructions to make some cute aprons, so this is what I did! I made a matching, albeit not identical, Mommy and Me apron set.

ReplyDeleteRegarding the Link/Zelda aprons:
ReplyDeleteHere's a website with illustrations for Link and Zelda from Twilight Princess. I know that some fans may balk because every Zelda fan has their favorite incarnation of these two, but these illustrations give you the most detail to work with.

Scroll down to look at both pictures.
If you want to go simpler and bolder, you could base them on Wind Waker illustrations:

ReplyDeleteI love that there's an Atom Eve one from Invincible! (not necessarily obscure but definitely not one of your mainstream super heroines)
Whenever you get a Zelda/Link apron I am so ordering it!
ReplyDeleteJust a thought... you should totally do a TRON apron! Black with bright blue stripes should not be too crazy.
LOOOOOVVVVVEEE these!!!!!!! Great work!!

ReplyDeletesaw the Spiderman apron comment, got creative...would this be a good design to work off of? I tried to be as faithful to the costume as possible while still making it apron-y...blue pockets would be cute on it as well :)
These need to be sold at comic conventions, I would buy one for my niece.
ReplyDeleteOhmy! Want more than one---these are fabulous! I have a birthday soon.Dark Phoenix Apron, here I come :-D
ReplyDeletePlease, please, please make a tron one. That would be so awesome and I would buy it immediately.
ReplyDeleteI also support the Princess Zelda apron - I have even dressed as her for Halloween a few times. Any of the different incarnations for her would work fine for most Zelda fans as long as either the triforce or crest of Hyrule are on there in some way :)
ReplyDeleteThese are great. You have a wonderful talent. I would LOVE to see a She-ra apron! I bet that would be soo sexy with the white and gold.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these! What a neat idea. The Wonder Woman is my favorite and darn, they are all sold out. I will be checking back later. I want one of those to wear as I am doing the housework, dishes, laundry and playing with the kids. If you have to BE Wonder Woman, you should dress the part too!
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome! I'm telling everyone about your stuff.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with Michelle, a She-ra one would ROCK!
amazing! so adorable and fun!

ReplyDeletewheres the captain america? you cant cook without a fist full of JUSTICE
ReplyDeleteI wanted my sister to ask you for a Captain America custom apron for my birthday a few months ago, but only gave her the idea a day before. Would love to see one. My biggest idea for that is to have the belt semi-attached so that you could hang tongs, a towel, etc. from it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the Zelda/Link combo and fully intend to order one of these sometime! And since this is a silly idea, how about a Master Chef(Master Chief) Apron?
ReplyDeleteI love these! My favorite is Wonder Woman! Great job!
